Huh...another one. From the way I speak, you'll easily find out that I'm not from KL. Why? Cause I can't speak Cantonese!...well enough I mean. Today I was conducting another training at customer place. Whey this guy started to talk to me in Cantonese, I tried my best to switch the conversation to English or mandarin but he just can't stop "shooting" me with all the Cantonese words...Ok fine! I will do it! (I talked to myself in my heart) Throughout the training, basically I used three languages to make the user understand what I'm trying to tell him. They are Cantonese, English and a bit mandarin. It was more complicated than the Singlish (Singapore English) or Manglish (Malaysia English). The user laughed occassionally during the training. I was not sure whether he was laughing at me or what...Whatever! I don't care! I just wanted to finish the training as quick as possible. No matter how fast I was, I still can't compete with the speed of the time. It was lunch time!
He invited me to a restaurant to have lunch. And of course, he treated me. There is one interesting part about the restaurant we went. On the wall, I saw few pieces of big classic posters of the NBA legendary players such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O'neal and even the young Kobe Bryant! I really wanted to ask the owner whether it is for sale because they looked so "beautiful"!!! LOL. While we were having lunch, he started to ask me about my background. Then only I found out that he is from East Malaysia as well (as for Ivy Mak's term is...from the other side). He is from Sabah and has been in West Malaysia for more than 20 years since he graduated Form 5. After we finished lunch, the training continued.
The user was so blur. I was not sure was it because of me or he really don't understand on how to operate the payroll system. I was trying my best to explain to him in Cantonese, English and a bit bit mandarin. Thank God eventually he understood the basic ways on how to run the payroll system. I got the payment in cheque in return (of course for company lo...) and got out from there around 3pm. The training went for about 5 hours...omg. I was thirsty...= =
Thank God again!
